Dip pen
In today’s world there are fewer and fewer opportunities to write by hand. Focusing on the simplicity of the dip pen, we developed a range of interchangeable nibs and nib holders. Versatile and designed for long-lasting ownership, they represent a new kind of writing tool for our era.
Nib
Pen nib
Most dip pen nibs are designed for drawing, calligraphy or manga, which inspired us to develop a nib specially for everyday writing. Shaped like a fountain pen nib, the Pen nib provides superior ink retention and a reliable writing comfort. The single-piece construction makes cleaning simple and easy.
Metal nib
We sought to create a nib that functions like a glass pen, with reliable production and supply. After considering numerous possibilities of materials, the Metal nib was born. The innovative machined form offers diverse line variation that caters for drawing as well as writing.
Glass nib
The glass nib was developed as a more casual alternative to the glass pen. Each nib is handcrafted by a glass artisan, and offers a lightweight feel and exquisite beauty when inked. The medium line width is perfect for writing.
Nib holder
A nib holder that emerged from our desire to create a tool that inspires a lifetime of use, bringing joy to our hands and soul. From the timeless material to the comfortable thickness, form and length, each and every detail has been carefully considered to create a perfect fit. The 7-inch length is similar to that of a standard pencil. Designed to universal specifications to fit all standard nibs, the nib holder will travel with you for a lifetime of writing.
Sakura wood
A hardwood native to the mountains of Japan, Japanese cherry wood has long been used for furniture for its durability, workability and the deep patina that develops with time. Choose from the unique colours of the red heartwood or the white sapwood, alongside aizome (indigo dyeing) and urushi (Japanese lacquer) finishes, that celebrate and enhance the natural texture of the wood.
Urushi
Lacquered using the fuki-urushi technique in the city of Takaoka in Toyama prefecture, known for its historic Takaoka lacquerware. The technique preserves the wood while visually enhancing the wood grain, a perfect complement to our tools designed for life.
Aizome
Aizome (Japanese indigo dyeing) is a plant-based dyeing technique that has long been part of Japanese culture. Wood dyeing requires advanced skill — the rich indigo hue is a result of careful trial and error by our artisans, and will gradually develop a deep patina with use. The beeswax finish adds a natural sheen.
Aluminium
Machined from solid aluminium to match the Sakura wood nib holder. Aluminium offers the weight of metal with a softness that effortlessly complements any other material. The matt, hand-brushed finish adds a gentle warmth.
