How to clean the nib
How to change the ink colour
To change the ink colour while keeping the same nib, simply rinse it with water. To switch to ink from other brands or to completely change colours, we recommend replacing the nib.
Step 1: Rinse with water
Remove the converter. Following the same process as Step 1 above, detach the nib from the grip section. Rinse any ink residue from the nib under running water, pointing it downwards and flushing it with water. Clean the converter by drawing water in and out, as you would when filling it with ink.
Step 2: Soak overnight
Fill a cup with water and soak the nib overnight to a day, then rinse again under running water.
Step 3: Remove excess water
Press a tissue against the nib and shake well to remove any remaining ink and water.
Step 4: Fill with ink
Attach the nib as described in Step 2 of How to change the nib above.
Fill the converter with ink and allow several minutes for the ink to flow. Since cleaning with water does not fully remove ink, some mixing of colours may occur. Kakimori inks can be mixed without any issues.
Troubleshooting and maintenance
Poor ink flow
To improve poor ink flow, rinse the nib with water as described in How to change the ink colour above.
Dried ink has clogged the nib
If cleaning with water does not resolve the issue, we recommend replacing the nib.

Extended storage
For extended storage of a removed nib, we recommend cleaning it first with the Kakimori ink cleaning solution.
Remove the nib from the grip section and place it directly into the bottle of the cleaning solution, pointing downwards. If the nib floats, close the cap and gently shake the bottle up and down until the nib is fully submerged. Leave to soak for 9-12 hours.
Step 2: Rinse
The solution may leave a white powdery residue if allowed to dry. Rinse the nib thoroughly. Wash hands thoroughly after rinsing.
Step 3: Remove excess water
Press a tissue against the nib and shake well to remove any remaining ink and water.
