Letter paper - Sukashi
A set of letter papers by Yamatsugi Paper Mill, established in 1868. The handmade washi paper features sukashi, a watermarking technique traditionally used in Echizen washi (paper made in the Echizen region of Fukui prefecture). Holding the paper up to the light reveals its delicate translucency. The concertina style allows you to tear off sheets at a width of your choice, leaving a soft feathered edge that’s characteristic of washi paper. While there will be some bleeding, the paper can be used with fountain pen ink.
- The item has tear-off sheets in a concertina style. To remove a sheet, hold down the paper on a flat surface and tear off.
- The occasional presence of fine, brown fibres is a natural and unique characteristic of handmade washi paper.
