Our original nib holder is now available in a new colour.
Kakimori nib holders are crafted from Japanese cherry wood, using both the heartwood and sapwood. The heartwood is the darker, redder core of the wood, while sapwood is the whiter outer layer of the trunk. We choose to work with both parts of the wood to honour the whole material and minimise wastage.
Due to the considerable variations in colour that can be seen from time to time, we have created a new colour — White sakura wood — to distinguish the whiter sapwood and provide a more accurate indication of colour.
Like the wood grain, colour variations are part of the natural and unique charm of wood. We hope you’ll enjoy discovering our new colour in-store and online.
